The Spiritual Advantage: Why Your Higher Calling Is Your Greatest Strategy ....That AI Won't Replace

In 2026 you can get a plan in seconds. You can get words on a page. You can get ideas all day long. Most leaders I know don’t lack one more idea.
AI now fills our tanks to the brim with those!
They do hunger for what AI can't offer - a spiritual check in. A spiritual friend. A spiritual mentor.
Someone who slows down with them long enough to ask what’s really going on inside. Someone who remembers their higher calling when the pressure gets loud.
That becomes their advantage in the day in and day out of leadership and entrepreneurship.
The Reason They Stay
In coaching leaders for over two decades, some of the people I work with have stayed with me for many years. We’ve walked through expansions, transitions, failures, and comebacks. They've sold companies, started coaching companies, run for office and retired to their dream scenario.
Recently I asked a few of them, why do you stay? Not one of them talked to me about tactics.
They said, "Jeff, I need that spiritual check in. I need someone who believes in my higher calling and my way of life. I need a partner who sees my work as more than work."
They don't ask for someone to hype them up. They don't ask for me to have all the answers. They ask for someone to help them stay awake inside. To lead from depth when the world keeps pulling them toward hurry.

What Is SQ?
You have probably heard of IQ and EQ.
Spiritual Intelligence (SQ) is the capacity to live and lead from the deepest center of who you are. The inner life that directs your thoughts, choices, and purpose.
SQ is your inner compass that keeps you aligned with what's true, wise, and lasting when pressure rises and noise increases. It anchors you in purpose, steadies you in challenge, and enables you to respond with clarity and conviction instead of reacting from fear or impulse.
SQ doesn't demand more religion at work. It offers more life.
Iron Sharpens Iron
I revisited a line in Proverbs recently where it says, "As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another."
This picture tells the truth most won't market. Real growth involves friction. Real leadership gets forged from one person to another.
My friend Scott Beck, a serial entrepreneur who built companies like Boston Market, Einstein Bagels, Ancestory.com and now Gloo teaches that it takes at least one other person to activate real growth in another. Leadership development and spiritual growth are contact sports.
That's the YOU that can't be replaced.! Your iron carries what you bring to activate others. Your leadership sparks something in them. Your coaching ignites or comforts. Your ability to build and move people forward gets them going. God meant for that iron in you to sharpen others.
And your SQ is no unimportant side thing... it's the main thing.
So are you doing right now to sharpen your SQ?
When your edge gets dull, you start leading on fumes. You start reacting. You start pushing when you were meant to discern. And slowly your gift turns into a grind.
But when your SQ shines... it creates movements!
That's why the spiritual check in matters. It keeps your edge clean. It brings you back to who you are and why you are here.

A Question for You
Let me leave you with a coaching question.
What if the thing holding you back right now comes from a missing connection to your calling, not a missing strategy?
If you want help sorting that out, I would love to talk.
I've hosted a handful of Winning Season Blueprint Calls this month. In this hour long conversation, we'll tackle the five things holding you back and the one thing you can do next to win in your calling and career.
No pressure. Just clarity and my own calling to activate the callings laying dormant in leaders.
Your iron matters.
