Once I made a decision, I never thought about it again.” Michael Jordan
What’s one decision you can make this fall to rise to a whole new place?
A whole new better you? More influence? More impact? More hope?
Fall can be a new beginning. OR fall can be disappointing. Hopes turned sour.
I literally spent years dreading the “Fall” because of a huge disappointment in 1991!
It was in that year when Mindy and I moved to Boston to plant a new church. We connected with what we believed was a dynamic group of people who were game to join us.
And…. within weeks our group of 40 dwindled to about 5. (If that!) Yep. Talk about a disappointment and some of my fears turned into reality.
I literally have to remind myself each fall – “Jeff, THIS is not “THAT FALL!” There is a choice. The future can and WILL be better than the past!
You This Fall...
And NOW as fall begins is a great time to make a least one key commitment to diss decision fatigue and win.
That’s right. Decide what you will commit to. Then commit.
Too many of us suffer from psychology calls “decision fatigue.” That’s where your will gets exhausted and takes up mental resources to weigh the pros and cons to every decision you encounter.
Harvard business professor Clayton Christensen teaches “It’s easier to hold your principles 100 percent of the time than it is to hold them 98 percent of the time.”
You make a 100% committed choice to
Avoid sugar
Avoid certain media
Have a date weekly night
Hold a leadership meeting each Tuesday
Pray and meditate for ten minutes before work each day
Send an email each Monday
Meet with a coach two times a month (This is huge to making all the other things happen! I have zero doubts!)
No, you can’t do everything at once.
BUT you can preserve your own willpower and ultimately make this fall your time to RISE!
One Key Decision Now...
What are you needing to say a full body “yes” to this fall?
What’s your one 100% commitment this fall? (Feel free to email me with yours!)
As it says in the Bible,
“Simply let your ‘Yes’ be ‘Yes,’ and your ‘No’ be “No.’” (Matthew 5:37)
Your decisions will shape your future. And your future will be shaped by the 100% commitments you make. No decision fatigue needed.
With you on the journey,
